【English ver.】 "God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve." Part 1

Few days ago one of my gay friends asked me what I’d written on my blog so I translated my previous post for non-Japanese friends :)

(Soooo embarrassed to show my poor English though!!!!lol)

My father is a Buddhist (Shingon sect) who’s captivated by Jainism, which prohibits destruction of any lives and used to hum his original “Jainism song” for some periods. And my mother, born and raised up in a family of Jodo-shin sect of Buddhism and married into a Shingon sect family (so she’s a bit like “flighty” in a sense.) Being in this “religiously-complicated” family, I was brought up not knowing my religion or rather I’d never thought about religion itself until a point of time.

It was 12 years ago. My grandfather, who was like my best friend has passed away. From this moment, I come to pray for him from the bottom of my heart in front of a Buddhist alter in a house. This experience made me conscious of being a Buddhist.

From 10 years old I’ve been always a good Buddhist (oh! it’s a secret that when I was 17 years old I tried to be the founder of my original religion and failed to convince my friends and teachers to join me.) Not only Buddhism, but also the word “religion” has enchanted me for a long time. And especially after that I came here in Italy.

Whenever I go for short trip from Siena, which now I live in, almost aaaaaaaalllll of the tourist sights have a lot to do with Catholic, for example: churches, portraits, statues, stained glasses, ceremonies festivals… In fact, I had no choice but to have an interest in Catholic culture so much. As the number of churches that I’ve visited increases, gradually a guidebook’s explanation doesn’t satisfy my curiosity.

By the way,

from this Monday a priest from Australia came to my class and we are studying Italian together. His name is Fr. Justin. Seeing him closely I noticed he’s around forties or fifties but looking at him from distance I’d thought he would be a young man in my age because of his chaste and young behavior.

One day Fr. Justin kindly invited me for lunch after knowing I was interested in Christian culture (I don’t think he’s tried to persuade me to be Catholic because I’d already told my religious background.)

For me it was a good chance to ask many questions that I’d have for a long time to the “professional.” So it can never be missed. I asked many questions about Christianity (a little bit impudently maybe…?)

“What are the chains that monks have around their waist? For what reason?” “What is IHS?” “What does OPA mean?” “Why does every statue and portrait of Christ on the Cross has wound on his right belly? What happened to him?” “What was the trigger that made you believe in God? Catholic??”

Finally I arrived at the question that I longed for knowing it.

Those who’re reading this article should have the same feeling!lol Finally we arrived at the main topic.

“So why does Catholic prohibit homosexuality?”
